Contemporary Archives is a reenactment of existing across time—past and future—while connecting with my family archives. As a child of both first- and second-generation migrations, my identity is shaped by these movements. One side of my family migrated to the UK in the late 1950s, enduring hardships that, in turn, allow me to exist proudly in my Black British identity. Through this project, I explore the emotional weight of their experiences and how they inform my present. Contemporary Archives is a way for me to represent and reconnect with my family's journey, reflecting on how my past has shaped my existence and personal expression today.
