My final multimedia project explored the controversial use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in the 21st century. While ECT appears to be a highly effective short-term treatment, there are concerns about ECT's long-term safety and efficacy, as well as about administering it without consent. This long read primarily focuses on personal experiences with ECT while explaining its history and possible explanations about how it is supposed to work.
