I chose to write on the subject of conflict photography as I have a great personal interest in photography and the role of photojournalists, especially those who work in places impacted by war and crisis. The article focuses on what motivates photographers to travel to and document these parts of the world and to understand through their words why the role is important. I wanted to shed light on the positive impact that this type of photography can have in improving our wider understanding of conflict, and its ability to tell the stories of those worst affected by it that might otherwise go untold.
