Plus One

Have you ever felt pressured by your family to be in a perfect relationship? ‘Plus One’ is a short film that follows Clara and her struggles with this exact predicament.

The dreaded day has arrived; Clara’s mother is visiting her hopelessly single daughter after a long time. So, to satisfy her mother, Clara creates the ideal ‘Asian Family Man’, Jack, using a new humanoid service called PLUS ONE. He becomes a hit with her demanding mother. And just when dinner between the trio is going well, Clara accidentally spills water on Jack. From then, everything’s a downward spiral as Jack begins to malfunction. As Jack glitches from the most outlandish of personalities to the next, Clara struggles to fix him back to being the perfect plus one. Will she be able to fix him on time before her mother becomes suspicious?

Through the film’s most outrageous of situations, we hope that audiences will have a good laugh as they may resonate with the themes of cultural and family expectations. In our family’s definition of a perfect partner, the pressure of being in their dream relationship is just too real.
