Return to Coloniser

My collage work explores my thoughts and questions on colonialism through personal experience. Five years ago, I moved from Hong Kong to the UK, returning to the former coloniser of my home. Living here revealed deeper colonial entanglements, placing me at the intersection of a post-colonial mentality and the absence of immigrant rights.
I confront what it means to exist between histories that refuse to let go. I question whether decolonisation is possible or if it only leads to another form of control. My collage pieces together fragments of identity, power, and displacement, exposing the tensions of belonging to a place that was never truly mine, yet has profoundly shaped who I am.
