Smoking Gun
Joshua Flynn
For my final major project, I created a Neo-noir, black-and-white graphic novel, drawing all 13 pages by hand on Photoshop. My idea was to create a visually stunning and engaging story, about two detectives who are on the trail of a series of violent crimes. I chose black-and-white to give the graphic novel a pulpy, gritty feel, as well as to call back to the 1980's and 90's style of graphic novel. Specifically, I was inspired by works like Frank Miller's Sin City and Alan Moore's Watchmen in the way I approached the layouts, composition, and tone of my work.
