'The Art of Pole' confronts perceptions surrounding pole dancing through movement and self-expression. Rather than attempting to define it, the series explores the sensuality, strength, artistry, and community reflected through my close friend's experience within a pole dancing society. The images are shaped by my observations of her practice and individual experience. Ranging from ambiguous forms to more recognisable ones, I invite viewers to interpret pole dancing through the perspective presented within the series and to question their own preconceptions. Rather than distancing itself from pole dancing's cultural roots, the work acknowledges them fully. Through this, I encourage viewers to look beyond assumption and engage with the practice as a layered form of expression, athleticism, and identity.
